Re: Picky Little Eater
Ok well maybe that was my problem, i was letting the dry food sit in the mixture of medicine and tank water for at least an hour. maybe more feedings with less medication would work better, i'll try soaking some frozen shrimp in a mixture this week. I'll let you know how it goes. If i wanted to use ...

Re: Picky Little Eater
I haven't tried shrimp or clams, nor have i tried soaking the frozen bloodworms in the garlic along with medicine. that will be his meal tomorrow. As far as krill, i've never tried to feed him that before, so maybe i'll give it a try, though he's always turned his nose up to brine shrimp. He's about...

Re: Hard vs. Soft Water F8
Ok so i talked to our plumbers and there is a spicket outside of the house that connects to the water line coming in before the softener, so i should be able to keep the same conditions in my tank. as for the under gravel (i think thats what UG means lol) i vacuum it every water change. Thanks for t...

Re: Hard vs. Soft Water F8
I'm actually on city water, but the water here is very hard. i've never tested the hardness, but there's white scale on the tops of all my tanks. i have gravel in there now with an undergravel filter. how would u recommend taking that out PP? as for mixing marine salt, for now i'm using oceanic, and...

Hard vs. Soft Water F8
Hello one and all, It's been a while since i've posted so i figure i'm due for a question to the forum. Recently we had a slab leak in our house and had to repipe our entire house. in that process, our family bought a water softener. My question is, how will the softer water affect my tank? should i...

Re: Not there anymore!!
I had the same thing happen to a female crowntail betta i put in a community tank. we had not seen it for a couple days so we looked around the tank and still didn't find it. upon doing a water change we still didn't find anything. i'm pretty sure the crabs got to it at some point... maybe the crabs...

Re: moss balls
Depending on your sg, mine survived up to 1.010. but my tank and the moss balls have been at 1.005 for the past couple months with no problems.

Re: F8 in a 10 gallon?
Depending on the size you can, as long as its the only inhabitant. make sure if you do its over filtered. I have mine in a ten gallon now b/c hes less than 2 inches, but i plan on upgrading to a larger setup in the fall. just keep up routine weekly water changes and you'll be fine.

Re: Algae Problems
Would you recommend taking the plants out and raise the sg accordingly until the algae clears away? It just looks plain ugly, even after scrubbing it all down during water changes. a friend of mine with gsp recommended phos-zorb by seachem, and said that it solved his green algae problem. In a ten g...

Re: Algae Problems
So sorry about the late reply. we're ramping up for exam week and i haven't had the time to get on and do a formal post. I just did a water change so i'll check my levels in a few hours. i actually do have a timer for my light and it stays on for a little under 8 hours a day. I think a problem may b...

Re: F8 with dragon goby?
I've been thinking the same thing. when i upgrade my tank i planned on a dragon goby, a couple bumble bee gobies and possibly a freshwater flounder which i'm not sure if it can tolerate salt. I've heard of people having F8's and dragon gobies in the same tank with no problems given the right tank size

Re: Suicidal F8!
If you really want to get him in a jar or some other container, the easiest way i've found is to feed him just a little bit. get him to come to the surface and when he's occupied looking at you and the food, then come from behind and scoop him right up. i know its evil, but i learned my lesson tryin...
