Re: help me id this puffer

It is the correct ID. I'd be pale too, if I was in the wrong kind of water!

Re: My new figure 8's

Store employees are there to sell you stuff. They don't care what happens to this living being after it leaves the store.

Re: My new figure 8's

Unfortunately, your tank is only large enough for a single F8. Maybe return the other one?

Re: who's the the biggest mbu? and how old?

You can't just go by the length of a puffer. The mass of a mbu is much more/inch than a fahaka.

Re: sick valentini saddle puffer

If he's the only sick one & you can keep the parameters stable, keep him in QT.

Re: I'm undecided

1 single fluviatilis. I haven't had much luck keeping puffers with other fish.
Please look over out Pufferpedia for profiles & minimum recommended tank sizes. Also, great info in our Library. Both found under the Learn tab, above.

Re: I'm undecided

[welcome]
That's <40g, so if you're thinking of keeping more than 1 fish in there, stick with the biocellatus. You could keep 3.

Re: Ugh, Ich! (no pun intended)

Don't forget LARGE WC, thoroughly vacuuming the substrate, every other day, to remove the free-swimming cysts & eggs.

Re: sick valentini saddle puffer

I'd at least start adding Melafix. Are there corals/anemones in the tank?

Re: GSP not eating

Your tank is grossly overstocked. That tank is large enough for a single puffer. I have a parrot cichlid who is outgrowing a 90g tank, larger than my fist.

Re: new to puffers.

Absolutely now! The S&S will surely stress out the boxfish, causing it to release toxins, killing both.

Can you get a clear pic of the skin issue? Anything added to the tank?
