Re: GSP wasting away

You also need to feed your fish a varied diet. Often, krill keeps them addicted to it & they won't eat other, healthier choices. Try live earthworms. You can inject them with the meds.

Re: GSP - Red Lumps on Tailfin / Greyish Skin / Broken Fin

Plecos don't do well with Melafix. Be sure to add an airstone.

Re: Sand

Just make sure you thoroughly stir every inch weekly. Or narrow it down to 1".

Re: GSP - Red Lumps on Tailfin / Greyish Skin / Broken Fin

Yep, see it now. He actually looks quite healthy--nothing some Melfaix couldn't heal up. As far as that tank--those plants will "melt" at the amount of salt he's needing. I suggest a new tank for the puffer or a total re-do of that tank without those other fish in there.

Re: GSP - Red Lumps on Tailfin / Greyish Skin / Broken Fin

[welcome] If this tank is cycled, you should be showing some nitrate. What test kit are you using? Bobbing a bag for 30 minutes is not how you acclimate a fish. http://www.fishlore.com/acclimating-tropicalfish.htm Your LFS is totally WRONG! Re: GSP wasting away

I'd QT that fellow & try a different med. There are many different IP species that can live in them for a very long time. ONLY feed medicated food for 5 days, then meaty foods soaked in vitamins for 2 days, then try a different IP med for another 5.

Re: Clean up/cleaning tank mate

If your puffers don't eat other fish, you could try black mollies.

Make sure the tank is heavily decorated, it'll make him feel safer if there are lots of hiding places to retreat to. Give him time...
