See I am not used to doing this with brackish fish, I did it with my EBJD to clear a parsite infestation. Salt can kill just about any micro organism. Try 1.022 for 30 mins. If that doesnt work try it for an hour. Monitor the fish closely, when doing this with freshwater fish you basically do it to ...

Can they really fit in a 90 gallon tank comfortably? I read they get up to 12" and with their box shaped body, they would have to be HUGE. I never really watched one move around much though, maybe they don't dart or swim fast. Oops it was only 1', but the same holds true, their body would'nt e...

Yikes that looks nasty. Only other thing I can think of is a strong fungecide.

Whats the SG of this tank?

You could try a 3% salt bath.

BTW that 1' measurement is including the VERY long tail of these critters.

Also, I have heard that this fish doesnt do too well in captivity, growing wise.

The only cichlid that MIGHT work with a puffer is a Chromide. The rest are too aggressive and if they arn't then the puffer will pick on them.

Try some Tetracycline HCL, thats the strongest anti bacterial available over the counter. You can pick some up under the name Maracyn-TC.

Melafix is only usefull for early/minor cases. You need some real meds to save it now.

Depends on what fish.

If it was a pleco kept in a 20G for 5 years, then you probably arnt going to need a 75G+ tank.

There are certain levels of stunting.

I have a gladiator system with my tanks, if the snail can foil the puffers for over an hour then he/she will retire to my 20G planted tank. Same with ghost shrimp. If the ghost shrimp can outsmart my puffers for a night, then they get to be retired.

Yep, the sooner the better getting them to a 55G.

Take this from my experiance, I kept my 2 GSPs in a 25G for about a year and they grew very very slowly (stunted). Once they got into my 55G they were a totally different fish!

There are quite a few, Guppy on MFK suggested lots of oddball fish not commonly seen in the trade.

The real problem with brackish water species is that brackish isnt a popular tank choice and in turn we dont get the selection of brackish water fish that we have in SW and FW.
