Re: ID request for Corvus
I'm making this request at the request of that fella on facebook. I don't doubt my eyes that they are porcupine puffers. Whether they were dyed or not, I can neither confirm nor deny this.

Re: Sand from LFS?
if you follow stangd1909 with getting the sand offshore, don't forget to cure and quarantine it. it's live sand, so you have to follow the same steps as you would fresh live rock so you don't pollute your tank

Re: Bennett's Sharpnose Puffer?
toby puffers are extremely active foragers in the wild, particularly males depending on the species. ex hawaiian whitespotted toby males keep 4 or 5 females in which each female keeps a territory of approx 25 sq. feet. while we can't hope to match that in an aquarium, it give you an idea of what the...

Re: SW Aquarium Water color question.
i believe this is normal. other factors affecting the color you see when looking lengthwise is the composition of the glass. i would say very few of us out here have any control over what goes into the glass used for our aquaria.

Re: Skimmer
more flow = more better (not the best grammar) i say go for the largest and highest flow pump you are willing to spend your money on. i prefer rio and mag-drive pumps. same goes for the skimmer, especially with puffers. those messy eaters are going to need a skimmer to handle all their waste. go for...

Re: Is plain white sand ok for a Marine tank?
plain white as in the color? chose whatever color you like just know, that there are two naturally occurring sands in nature. one is calcium carbonate, which is what is used for aquariums. the other is a type of silicate, which is not used for aquariums because it is harder than glass, so it easily ...

Re: Puffer mess control
there is a small possibility that the large red hermit crabs might survive. i personally don't like them, but for a while they might work. really, once you've got the big tank set up, it's gonna all come down to... WATER CHANGES! yipee. if you're looking to simply control algae, you could get some s...

Re: Sigh, another tank
i think humidity would only be a problem in places where there isn't too much air flow. for example, a room with only a single medium or larger tank (50g +) in an extremely dry place such as Las Vegas, the humidity added might benefit the room a room with a medium or larger tank in a room in a place...

Re: OMG and Arggghhh!
HAAAA LOL normally when i'm awake, spiders don't bother me. but if i get that feeling of one crawling on me, look out! fortunately in hawaii there aren't any spiders worth worrying about, but back in vegas, the big ones are the black widows, and i remember freaking out one night when i felt one craw...
