Re: Swollen Eye - Help with Treatment
Probably popeye disease (exophthalmia). "When only one eye is affected, especially if this is only seen in one fish in the tank, the most likely cause of the problem is some type of physical injury." If it's infection related it's mostly both eyes. Should heal on its own. Keep the water cl...

Re: Help ID a freshwater puffer at the Shedd Aquarium - Chonerhinos naritus?
As you already noted Chonerhinos naritus always has much more fin rays than any Auriglobus. The puffer in question was more likely Auriglobus modestus (maybe some other Auriglobus, cannot tell for sure with the pics).

Re: Tragulichthys jaculiferus Information
Am not aware that they have occured in the pet fish trade. I've seen them offered, but those were other species with a wrong identification. That said, I don't think there is that much of a difference between the different species of diodontids available in trade with regard to behaviour.

Re: Photo ID
I'd say it's a young P. leiurus, a species which is known to sometimes have more than one ocellated spot. Could also be a P. cochinchinensis with quite aberrant coloration.

Re: Puffer id
Agree with Spotfin. Very likely a young fluviatilis. No GSP or F8 IMO. Nice find. I saw them often in the past, but not so often in the last 10 years.

Re: what type of puffers are these, please help
As SAPpyPuffer noted it seems to be one of the striped Marilyna species, most likely Marilyna pleurostica. We had this species several times on this forum in the past. Try a search for pleurosticta and its possible cousin species Marilyna darwinii.

Re: What kind of puffer is this?
It's not a Takifugu ocellatus. It's a Takifugu obscurus IMO.

Re: What kind of puffer is this?
No. If I remember correct it was T. obscurus, where it was determined that puffers and humans have the same genes responsible for teeth.

Re: What kind of puffer is this?
If current research suggests lower mortality for 77F in juveniles, I'd personally start at 74-75F and go lower with growth. For salinity I'd stark with brackish and raise the salinity to marine with growth.

As far as I know, they are kept and bred in comparably cool water in China.

Re: What kind of puffer is this?
I'd also ID him as Takifugu obscurus, one of the medium sized to larger Takifugu reaching 20-40 cm. They are even bred in China and eaten as "Mefugu" in Japan, sometimes specimens occur in the aquarium trade. I have never kept them personally, but I bet he has teeth! You'll find a few thre...

Looks good. Think this probably is one. Also try a forum search for this species. Lots of discussion in the past.

Re: Stunning Pao (Monotrete) abei shipment (2x)
Actually I might have to update my statement above. With the new pictures, your puffers fit the desription (diagnosis) of P. cochinchinensis quite well: "adults with ocellus, sometimes red, but most commonly made of a large black blotch surrounded by a paler area and a series of more or less co...
