Yeah. I have one more day on the ich medicine, says the directions. Then it tells me to do a 25% water change. So that, along with prime in the new water, and putting the carbon part back in my filter should do the trick.

My first test results.

How do I interpret these results. Are they good? Are they bad? Should I take any actions? Dunno how accurate of a test this is because I removed the carbon from the filter so I could add malachite green (for ich). nitrate - 12.5 mg/l nitrite - .8 mg/l ammonia - 0 mg/l temp - 82 degrees Fahrenheit (f...

Seems like I had/have to to give him the right living conditions. I went from a 2 gallon tank with a few plastic rocks.. not knowing that I had to get a full fledged aquarium system with accessories & decor. Not to mention medicine, testing kits, and water conditioners. And I unknowling bought a...

No, I like the T5. :-D I'll keep it. And hmm. I'll only ever need one application of bio-spira? What about when I do full water changes (if ever necessary)? And not really money to burn, just money that I'm willing to spend to keep a nice healthy tank, and keep my buddies happy. (ps: should/could I ...

I believe I have everything now.

I bought extra bio-spira, for when i do water changes. And I bought some melafix for my feeshies fins. And I special-ordered a refractometer which should arrive in 2-3 days.

Would it be safe to say I can start adding salt before the refractometer gets here?

I don't have a problem picking up a refractometer at full price if my LFS sells them (do they usually?). No wonder the guy didn't know what i was talking about when I asked if he had a brackometer :roflmfao: Okay, so I need a refractometer. I'm about to do my first water tests. pH, nitrite, nitrates...

Yeah, I read that 3-4 times already. :P My question was is it OK to do it as a precautionary measure, just in case the puffer that lived with a puffer that died from parasites & ich left some lingering around in him.

Will it harm the fish to do an ich treatment if they do not have it?

Precautionary Ivh Treatment

I suspect one of my fish my have ich. Given that it's former tankmate died of some kind of parasite perhaps alongside of ich. Is it ok to administer heat treatment (raising water temperature slowly, 2 degrees F per day till about 84-86 degrees), and chemical treatment with this product I have called...

The LFS's hydrometer doesn't go low enough to measure the salinity required for a brackish tank.

What do I do?

Product suggestions?

It looks kinda like this: http://www.huntingandfishingjournal.org/images/big_pic_channel_catfish.jpg Except mine are more golden in color, don't have black dots on them, and have a slightly reddish cheek, and the "whiskers" on the front aren't as prominent. Same fins in the same places tho...

They were in the tank with them at walmart. So I figured they got along and bought 2 of them along with my 2 puffers.

I'd like to find out the specific name of it so I can google it and learn all about them.
