New species of South American Puffer article

Hi, I don't know if this is the proper place to put this so please move if needed. I came across this article about the SAP a little while ago and thought it looked interesting. I have not had a chance to read through it yet, but plan to shortly. It was published less than a year ago so I figured th...

Re: Identify puffer

I'm sorry again I didn't see the second set of photos. I agree that it's not the biocellatus. However I just was curious and appreciate the knowledge of other people here, and the opportunity to see all variations in each type of puffer. Yay I learned something.

Re: Identify puffer

Okay, sorry. I was looking at the top of it's head and it's hard too see but the pattern seemed a little bit like the fluviatilis. And the color, to me, had more of a yellow tint, like the fluviatilis and biocellatus have. That's why I was asking about the belly when it gets dark. Maybe I missed som...

Re: Identify puffer

I happen to think that the OP may be correct on thinking they may be different. I know there are many variations of patterns in each different type of puffer, but at first glance the photo on the right looked like a Figure 8 puffer (Tetraodon biocellatus) or possibly the fluviatilis. When or if you ...

Re: Why are LFS only open from 11am to 7pm? :(

:D Hi. If possible I would at least wait until tomorrow to get the puffs if you're still setting up today. You're probably capable of success but I think the puffs will appreciate it in the immediate future if you hold on one more day. I could be wrong but I think other people have had success with ...

Re: Is 2 days too soon?

Agreed. My little guy/gal is definitely shy and sensitive, and has moods with various shades or amount of black on the belly. He has even done this while eating and a piece of food fall into a crevice he cannot easily get to.

Re: Puffer anatomy

Do you mean the little nub like things where the nostrils are, or would be? I always just assumed that they were part of the nose/nostril hole to help them smell. Maybe some one can correct me? :?

Guess I stick to good old aquaclear then. I was just curious about all the new fangled things that have come out since I last had fish several years ago.

Re: Sponge Filters?

Normally I would agree more with the more filtration the better. I have also been considering this: Rapids Mini Canister http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+16742&pcatid=16742&s=lh I was just a little concerned about flow rate and the little dwarfs. I assume I ...

Sponge Filters?

Hi everyone! I have quickly been consumed by the puffer addiction again.... and it's effecting my children. Just kidding; well sort of, my 10 year old son had expressed that he would like his own tank with Dwarf Puffers. I have convinced him though the library here, that he needs at least a 10 gal t...

Re: Its here... the Kraken

YAY! I love this place. It's so nice to have others to help and encouraging the fish addiction, or hobby as I keep telling my husband. 8) Your new little friend was so cute I had to show my kids and it was nice to have an awesome example to show them a different type than they are used to seeing.
