Hey everyone, I'm finally back and i have just a few questions... I'm going to order some c.irrubesco puffers and i want a male and female hopefully... is that o.k to have that for a 37 gallon tank, fully filtered and maintained often? Dinsdale could be right, but there is many possibilities. The puffers attitude could be it, like Hilly said, and like Dinsdale said, the tight living space could be agitating him to the behavior or aggresion.

If you were stuck in a little uncomfortable room, you would be cranky too!

Just in case the tank gets dirty and the filter can't handle it, is there any sterile fish or shrimp that I could use as a clean up crew?

they need to puff but I've heard some puffers only puffing a bit and some spines raise easier because their size. If it puffed up the least bit, a small spine could have just sprung up.

I wouldn't unless you breed them yourself in good conditions. Store bought guppies are filled with diseases sometimes, and are bad for your puffs liver. Guppies usually seem to be kept in bad conditions so I wouldn't recommend feeding puffers guppies.
