Re: Mappa, Starry and co. Feeding time
Awesome puffers and triggers. But things will get out of hand when they grow larger. Im sure you already know this and have plans for each :D . But they all are beautiful though. Btw, those are my fav 3 triggers. I had one of each over the years. Ended up tradin them off because of the moving I had...

Re: Mappa, Starry and co. Feeding time
The starry was half the size of the mappa and now he's twice the size of him. I was worried about him at first.puffykid wrote:They are still pretty little, I like em.

Beautiful, I've never seen one pass 14" although it's said they can. Likely not in captivity would be my guess. Awesome fish.

Re: Mappa and Starry with Ich
LOL, not at all. Hypo is the way to go. If you don't have a QT large enough for all those fish, then remove all the LR/sand to a vat with a heater & flow & hypo in the DT. You're gonna need a huge tub to make prepared water in, as you'll be doing HUGE daily WC for the tank. Thanks, cheers

Re: Mappa and Starry with Ich
I'm not sure whether you'd have to quarantine the affected fish, but RTR's salt method is great, I used it to succesfully cure my puffer of ich recently. http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28113 Anyway good luck with your puffers bro. Will the salt method work on salt water...

Re: HI from Toronto
I'm also from the GTA, just wondering if that Fahaka made it. I miss fresh water, I've had bad lick with saltwater puffers. I current have a Starry and Mappa Puffer both off and on with ick which is driving me crazy, I also have clown, Picasso and undulate triggers in there (one of each). They are n...

Re: Starry Puffer
Makes sense, Im growing him out to 12 inches then I will be giving him to my local Big Al's fish store. Massive display tank with other very large fish. I just wished I was going to have more time with him. But he is a ferocious eater and I might have to part with him sooner than expected.

Re: Mappa owners
Since this is a Mappa thread I figured someone may know the answer to a question I have had for a while. I have only seen 1 Mappa puffer live, that was about 6 years ago. The only others I have seen have been in pictures. The one I saw live had darker lines that were a bright purple and the back gr...

that is a Stellatus puffer also known as a Starry puffer, often mistaken for the Mappa because of the eye and skin colouration.
I have one of each, both get massive.
