Re: F8 in a 10 gallon?

I see what you mean about having more room and being able to exercise more. Personally, right now my betta seems to hate the ten gallon tank, only because it's so reflective and he keeps thinking that the reflection of himself is another male encroaching on his territory. I'm working on cutting back...

Re: F8 in a 10 gallon?

Vases are not appropriate for bettas. Please don't put him back in there. I don't see why vases aren't appropriate. If I do regular water changes, and the water temperature never goes under 70 degrees, and the vase is roughly two gallons large then I don't see why it's a problem. I don't mean to so...

Re: F8 in a 10 gallon?

I suppose I'll just have to keep DP hunting once the weather gets a little warmer. Haha

Re: F8 in a 10 gallon?

I have a betta. Actually I technically have five. I have a very peaceful male who lives with three very active females in a ten gallon at my parents house (they're technically my mother's fish). And I have a betta with me at college, he's residing in my cycled ten gallon tank but the problem is the ...

Re: F8 in a 10 gallon?

Bummer. I'm in college so anything larger than a 10 gallon tank is out if the question. I would get DPs but no one seems to have them. :/

F8 in a 10 gallon?

Can I keep a F8 in a 10 gallon tank? Would that be too cramped? I've read that they only grow up to 3in long and I know that they're supposed to be in a 15 gallon tank but I was just wondering if it were possible. I don't want to cause any problems for the little guy and I won't get him if I really ...

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

Oh believe me, I plan on totally redoing the entire tank. I don't want to risk anything happening to any fish I plan on putting in the down the line.
Thank you, again, for all of your help and information. :)

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

Originally I wanted to get DP's but no one in my area sells them and, as cute as they are, I'm not spending $35+ in shipping on a fish. I really would love to have a pair of DPs and I would if I knew where to get them. :/ I'm in Hempstead NY (that's on Long Island for anyone who doesn't know) so if ...

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

Maybe one day I'll get another puffer but being in college with only a 10 gallon tank allowed at school makes it tough so I think it's best when I can devote the space for a puffer to enjoy a 55gallon tank all to himself instead. As a side note I checked the nitrite and ammonia levels and they were ...

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

Fish update: apparently the water changes weren't enough to save her and she died today. :( I doubt I'll be getting another puffer anytime soon. I think I'll just shutdown the ten gallon and wait until the summer before doing anything new with it. Thank you everyone fr your help and advice. I'm just...

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

Her belly being white is a good sign? I assumed it was better than anything but the darkness on her sides has me very worried. :(
Thank you everyone for your help and information!

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

Her stomach is completely white, she has dark lines running between the white and the green of her and she has two dark spots by her mouth. There is rippling of the water that's being caused by the filter. The filter is a 15-20 gallon Aquaclear. I suppose I'll wait until tomorrow to do another water...

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

Just to update on her condition. I did a 20% water change, using the rest of the good bottled water I have here. She's sort of okay. Floating at the top of the water with her mouth upwards at most times then swimming down to the bottom then swimming back up again. She does some strange twitching now...

Re: Sick Green Potted Puffer!!!

The temp is fine being 82 degrees. I wound up Getting bottled water from the store. I still don't have the kit, apparently Walmart didn't have any and I figured doing the water change was a little more important.
Should I do another 50% water change later today?
