Re: Sexing of Dwarf Puffers

Yes, I have read those descriptions in various places online however here is my problem: Puffer 1 (White) has: - A round body (female) - Clearly visible and pronounced wrinkles around the eye (distinctly male from my research) - A very light line that runs length ways over the underside that only tu...

Sexing of Dwarf Puffers

Hello All, I recently purchased two Dwarf Puffers for my new Fluval Flex 9g tank and I'm having trouble sexing them, they both seem to have traits attributed to both sexes so I'm hoping to get some outside opinions. Puffer #1 I refer to as "yellow" this puffer is: - Large, about one full i...

Re: GSP Death

1.022 salinity, I did the changes in a large tub as I've done for the past 5 years of keeping him, salinity and temperature always matched with the tank water. I use instant ocean salt and big al's declorinator.

The ammonia and nitrites were both 0 as I'm sure someone will want to know that.

GSP Death

Hey Guys, I haven't posted in awhile but I just wanted to let some steam off to some people that may understand how upset I am that my GSP died tonight. I'll give you a little background, I've had him for 5 years in a 30g tank by himself. On tuesday he was sitting on the bottom of the tank looking v...

Switching from Gravel to Sand for the First Time

Hey all, so after dealing with a white cloudiness in my water for 5 months now I've decided my next step is to switch my subsrate from gravel to sand. The cloudiness was discussed here: http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=30225 So I have my one 3 inch gsp in the tank right no...

Re: White Cloudy Water

No the powerhead hasn't been cleaned in awhile, i'll try that today and maybe lower it down too, to prevent cavitation.

Re: White Cloudy Water

That's the problem though, its been like this for four months now, so I'm doubting more and more that its going to fix itself.

Re: White Cloudy Water

pH is 7.8 according to the local pet store, pretty much what it is supposed to be so that rules that out. I've had the same problem in two different cities that are 5 hours drive apart so I've also ruled out the tap water. :(

Re: White Cloudy Water

The ornaments that I have in right now are all 6 months + old, i would assume some of the condensation drips back into the tank but I clean the lid regularly with a water+ vinegar solution so I don't think that could be a problem.

Re: White Cloudy Water

no sorry I don't have a magnifying glass, i can actually see the white cloudiness flowing at the top of the tank where the light exposes it the most, it doesn't seem like bubbles as I'd assuming they'd float and the whiteness just flow wherever the filter pushes it.

Re: White Cloudy Water

Hey guys, just wanted to update. My tank is still cloudy as ever, I've tried filter floss, pillow stuffing, the biomax bag, changing decorations, water changes and for the last two days I've had the lights off. The link below shows what the tank looks like as of this morning, none of the modificatio...

Re: White Cloudy Water

Okay I'll give that a try, should I keep the charcoal in or take it out? I bought the cut to fit filter floss pad from big als Is one layer of it enough? (Its not very thick) Thanks!
