Is carbon necessary in the filter?
I added carbon to help clear up the water last month. Now that the water has cleared, should I remove the carbon or should I keep using carbon in the filter?

Added new plants and a new filter....pic
I'm trying out what plants can coexist with these puffers. Going to be adding more soon. I also added an Ac 70 to go along my Ac 30,both with foam and filled to the top with biomax. I have about 17 times the turnover, lol!! Can't say I don't have enough filtration!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: would the length of the tank make any difference
I have 2 f8s in a 30g with measurements 30x12x18.
I think hight is as important as length.
How deep are the waters where they come from?

Re: Enough filtration??
I do nothing but rinse the sponge in tank water 3-4 times a year and the bio media maybe twice a year. At least that's what I do with both my eheims on my 75g and never had an issue.

Enough filtration??
I have a 30g with live plants and 2 f8s and I'm running a Ac 20 and Ac 30.
It's like having an Ac 50 but I prefer having 2 filters in case one stops working for some reason.
In the future I'll replace the Ac 20 for an Ac 50 or 70.
Is what I have at the moment good enough for these pigs!!lol!
