Re: Takifugu ocellatus
Aww bless him, that's tiny! Mushroom's massive. Reckoning on 6-7"ish. He's in my hallway now, since his tank wouldn't fit anywhere else! But it doesn't seem to bother him too much. He's got playsand from homebase, which is fairly fine and soft, so he occasionally buries himself totally if he's ...

Re: Takifugu ocellatus
Woohoo! Another fugu owner! lol Meet Mushroom: http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z470/Christie_ZXR/Mushroom/100_2273.jpg I'm at 20 degrees all the time. Mine's a 4ft 170L tank. Tried dropping his temp several times, and I get a really bad reaction, so I've stuck at 20. Got a G6 for filtration and ...

One of my cats is called Siobhan, spelt funny but pronounced Shevonne. She's named after a friend of mine. One of our goats was called Colin after my uncle too...

Re: average porcupine growth rate
My fugu goes funny without his vitamins, defo see a marked difference in him between when I use them and when I don't. He's getting alternated vitachem and vitazin now. (Vitazin was all I could get hold of initially and I've got a bottle to use up!)

Re: Previous Fugu Owners
at the size they arrive in stores, they can also be found at the sea. What sort of size would you say that is out of curiosity? Mushroom had been in the store about 2 months when I got him, so I don't know how much growing he'd done. I've only noticed them for sale one other time, and I think they ...

Re: Previous Fugu Owners
Thanks guys. :) PP, what conditions was your little guy in? Sad to know about sushi! That was the first other fugu I encountered when I was researching them! Found a video of her on you tube being incredibly cute at feeding time :D One thing I've heard, but which I've never seen backed up is that yo...

Re: Fahaka Puffer--quite sick.
Don't know if its been mentioned, but I use the API nitrate test and if you don't give it a good shake it reads 0, might be what led to the confusion?

Re: Previous Fugu Owners
Yes, he is called Mushroom. :) Thanks bertie :) Have to say, horrid though it sounds, I'm after knowing more about failures :( I like to have a hunt around every now and again for new info, and it's something I've not really researched. I'm hoping it'll help to know what happened with others so I ca...

Previous Fugu Owners
Fugu (t. occellatus) seem to have been cropping up a bit recently. It just gave me a bit of a thought, since there's not much known about them at all, wanted to take the opportunity to ask around. I know a couple of you guys have been unsuccessful with them in the past :( . But I just wondered if an...

Re: Fugu puffer?
Wouldn't trust one in a reef tank. Knowing what Mushroom's like, he'd eat the corals!! They also need slightly lower salinity (imo) and defo lower temps than your average reef tank.
Species only, and complicated requirements I'm afraid.
