Re: Worms on tank glass

Wow exactly what I was looking for. I have these too, but Im not sure if they are the nematodes or the planaria. Ill do a websearch for images. But it was kind of shocking to see the strange trackmarks in the algae Ive been meaning to scrub off my tank glass, and then noticing the little white thin ...

Re: FIGHT THE POWER!

You know what, I was comparing the GSPs to my F8s and now I think about it youre right, none of those fish would make good tankmates. I dont even have Corys in with my F8s cuz they dont tolerate salt. I cant stand how ill-advised the walmart staff are and they only propagate more ignorance for peopl...

Re: FIGHT THE POWER!

Does that tag say tankmates: "Barbs"? Barbs are aggressive, arent they? Wont they bully even GSPs? and it makes me mad the label says "feed flake food" because they dont eat that, mine wouldnt ever touch it they ignore it. Its no wonder their puffers always die. RRgh.

Re: Thank you to all of the Puffer Forum!

Hi Hadla, I really dont know. As I said, I was out of the room. When I came back, he was floating there. I only tried to burp him as a last resort and its a good thing I did. Im assuming he panicked in the water and tried to jump and inhaled, and thats really the only thing I can think of.

Thank you to all of the Puffer Forum!

Its a short story really, but I had an emergency not long ago today that scared the life out of me. It was concerning one of my two puffers, infact the newest one we got because the other jumped out of the tank a while back. Its my husbands puffer which would have been a double blow because hes trus...

Re: mini crabs

Ceratopteris thalictroides (water sprite) or Ceratophyllum demersum 'Foxtail' (hornwort) are both floating plants that do well in brackish set-ups but do best at or below SG1.003 at 25DegC - your fish will be absolutely fine at SG1.003. I'd recommend Ceratopteris thalictroides as it covers more sur...

Re: F8 Coughing

Thanks for the topic link, PP. I guess its kind of unconfirmed exactly WHY they do this coughing? It was my thought that perhaps when they cough like that they are trying to expel uneaten pieces of shell or food that they cant digest, only thing is Ive never seen them actually expel anything before....

F8 Coughing

Im not sure if this is actually sickness, but it was something I was curious about. I wanted to ask other F8 or brackish water puffer owners whether they've seen their fish do this? Occasionally my puffers 'cough'. Its not painful looking, but they puff out their lips and their mouth rounds out and ...

Re: Need quick answers

Okay 1.005 is where you wanna be, it shouldnt go any higher than that. It would be nice if the fish from the store were kept at 1.005 because the transition would be so much easier then for the fish... but, no guarantee. Unless you can get the people to test their water in the store for you, but I d...

Re: f8 tankmates

Youre welcome! Good luck with your new fish! Gobies are a lot of fun, they have funny grumpy faces and stick themselves to everything due to their little 'suction-cup' underfin. Youll notice the F8s really just ignore them, even at feeding time. F8s are a lot of fun to keep too. My hubby and I cant ...

Re: Bad thing...good intentions :(

Wally and Marty are doing great! Such "lovable" little guys! Healthy as can be in their own tanks. Eating well and no signs of ip's! I just knew for sure that Wally wouldn't make it this long but he has proven me wrong. So happy that I could save these guys! On a bad note my walmart has g...

Re: New here, soon to be puffer owner again.

If you get an F8 make sure your tank is big enough, it looks fine for one F8 but it needs to be at least 30 gal. for two puffers, and bigger is better once they are adult youll need more than 30 gal. for two. Having two is fun, they interact interestingly, and a singleton would be fine too. Good luc...
